• candidates must have graduation degree in any stream.

Age criteria for Himachal Pradesh Public Service Examination 2024 as on 01/01/2024

• Minimum age- 21 year
• Maximum age-35 years
• Age relaxation- upper age limit is relaxable by 5 year for candidates belonging to schedule cast schedule tribe ,other backward classes, person with disability and ,children ,grandchildren of freedom fighter of Himachal Pradesh as declared by government from time to time.

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Examination 2024- Examination pattern, Selection process and syllabus.

• This examination is consisted with 3 stage which include preliminary examination, mains examination and interview
•  Preliminary examination- this is an objective type screening test  which is consisted  of 2 paper. General studies and Aptitude test
• Primary examination carry maximum of 400 marks. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination by candidates who are declared qualifying for the admission to Mains Examination will not be counted in determining the final Order of Merit.
• The number of candidates to be admitted to mains examination will be about 20 time of total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this examination
• Provided that Aptitude Test which is paper 2 of preliminary examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33 percentage. Marks obtained in this paper shall not be counted for determining the merit of candidate which will be drawn exclusively on the basis of marks obtained  in General study paper 01 of preliminary examination for their admission to the mains examination

• This paper shall be of 200 Marks and there shall be 100 objective type multiple choice questions.
• Syllabus– History, Geography,Political and culture and Socio economic development of Himachal Pradesh.
• Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian national movement.
• Indian and world geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world.
• Indian political and governance- constitution political system panchayati Raj system public policy rights issues etc.
• Economics and social development- sustainable development,poverty Inclusion ,Demographics, social tech sector initiative etc.
• General issues on Environment ecology , biodiversity and climate change- that do not require subject specialization

• This paper shall be of 200 Marks and there shall be 100 objective type multiple choice question.
• Syllabus-

• Interpretational skill including communication skills
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability

• Basic numeracy which include number and their relations,order of magnitude etc.-class 10th level,
• Data interpretation which include charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- class 10th level

                                                           Interview-

  candidate who will pass to mains examination be interviewed  by the Commission. Final merit list to be prepared based upon the candidates performance in the mains examination and interview. Marks obtained in the preliminary examination shall not be counted for preparing final merit list.
